Green Smoothie with Pineapple Popsicles


Memorial Day is almost here. That means BBQ parties, food, drinks and cool treats. One way to keep it fun and healthy at the same time is to make popsicles. But these are a little different. They’re not your average red, white, orange or blue popsicle. These are green and the main ingredient here is leafy greens. Spinach, that is. There’s no need to get alarmed that the taste of them might be bitter or taste like a salad. Just like a green smoothie, fruit is mixed in to give it that added sweetness.

Unlike store bought popsicles, these smoothies are all natural, using very few ingredients. Store bought popsicles contain high fructose corn syrup, sugar, dyes, and artificial flavors. Why bother spending money on food products that don’t serve you or your body in a way that is giving and loving and nutritious?

Making your own popsicles is easy as 1-2-3. Just pour, freeze and serve. The molds I used I ordered from here on Amazon. This is an 18-pack bundle because my granddaughter and I enjoy making fun foods and treats. Or you can buy a 6-pack of molds from here. I also like that these molds are BPA free and the popsicles pop out easily after running under water for about a minute or so.

The benefits of green smoothies are huge. Even frozen, you still experience more energy, clearer skin, and better digestion. So, enjoy them as a breakfast, lunch, dinner or snack.

Green Smoothie Pineapple Popsicles

1 banana, peeled
1 cup canned pineapple chunks
2 handfuls spinach
1/2 cup water

Blend pineapple, banana and about 1 Tbs water. Blend until smooth. Fill the mold ¼ to ½ of the mixture. Blend remaining mixture with spinach and water until smooth. Fill the mold with the remaining mixture. Add covers and freeze for up to 5 hours or overnight. Run the molds under warm water to loosen popsicles.
