Tropical Mango Smoothie

Summer is stone season which lasts from June – September. This includes delectable fruit like peaches, cherries, nectarines and, oh yeah, mangoes. Because there are so, so many varieties of the mango, it is pretty much available year round. Keep in mind that as the seasons change, so does the price. The cost of one mango is one dollar or more. So during the summer months, grab them by the case load, peel and freeze them.

You wouldn’t think that a fruit that tastes so yummy would have many health benefits. Mangoes are loaded with fiber, which helps keep stuff moving through your colon. If you’re having tummy issues (i.e. constipation, infrequent bowel movements) then eating mango along with a proper diet will help get things moving along.

Mangoes are very low in saturated fat, cholesterol and sodium. They are also an excellent source of vitamin B6, as well as a good source of vitamin A and vitamin C. They are rich in minerals like potassium, magnesium and copper.
Other benefits of mangoes include their high nutrition content of potassium and magnesium which naturally helps to keep blood pressure under control.

Mangoes also help lower cholesterol and studies have shown that this awesome fruit lowers the risk of developing prostate and gastrointestinal cancers.

Here’s how to make my Tropical Mango Smoothie

1 cup coconut water

1 cup coconut water

1 medium mango diced

1 medium mango diced

1 cup pineapple chunks

1 cup pineapple chunks

Juice of one lemon

Juice of one lemon

1 piece of ginger, peeled

1 piece of ginger, peeled

2 Tbs. shredded coconut

2 Tbs. shredded coconut

Tropical Mango Smoothie Recipe

Ingredients:

1 cup coconut water
1 medium ripe mango, peeled and diced or cut into pieces
1 cup canned pineapple chunks (in its own juice)
1 piece ginger
Juice of one lemon
2 Tbs. unsweetened coconut

Put all ingredients in blender, blend until smooth and creamy.
